awesome 3 weeks!

Since our “old settlers” celebration two weeks ago, it has been a tornado of life around our home and RiverPoint Church. It started with RPC having community worship in the park during old settlers weekend. We had over 150 people show up on a hot and sunny morning and they were locked in on everything Brad was saying and Steven was singing! We talked a lot about biblical community and reaching the lost in the cities of Harvey County. The next week we got Corey ready for Kansas State and moved him on Saturday, August 26. I miss him big time! The next day we had some return guests from the previous Sunday and we totalled around 100 total for worship. The next week Lauren and Alex started school, volleyball and cross counrtry practice and homework. Blah!!

This week it’s been a lot of the same with a few surprises. Great news came from Brad and Sally as they are expecting their 3rd little Martin sometime in March ’08. Thursday, Sharon twisted wrong in the shower and has completely messed her lower back up good. I am taking her to the Dr. tomorrow morning (if she can get into the car). She is better today, however. Praise God!! This morning in worship, we tried some different music formatting. We used some DVD worship songs and they “off the planet”. It gave us a glimpse of what our worship band will sound like when we move over to the High School later this year. Then Brad knocked it out of the park with his message about “focusing on the One”. Meaning two things: Keeping our eyes on Jesus Christ and leaving the 99 to find the one lost person who needs or doesn’t know Jesus Christ. I think this could be a new key phrase for our RPC to use in the future. FOCUSING ON THE ONE!! Sounds incredible don’t you think?

I continue to keep my brother Dave in my prayer site. He is going through some tough treatment (radiation and chemo) for his base of tongue cancer. He is about through the planned treatments, but they can always give booster amounts at the end. He needs your prayers for healing, pain relief, encouragment, boldness and just plain toughing it out! Thanks in advance for your prayers.

Alex and Lauren have their first meet and match this week. Very exciting about that. Alex is in Clearwater for a big x-country meet and Lauren is in Haven for Volleyball. Go Dragons!

Remember: Jesus Christ is good, all the time. Make Him famous!

It’s been a while, but I’m back. When Christ isĀ about His business, business is always GREAT! Brad (lead pastor at our own RiverPoint Church) and I have been noticing the number of men who have been just “showing up” at RPC events. Last night, we were working on the float trailer that will be in the Halstead “Old Settler’s” parade on Saturday morning, and we both noticed how much testosterone that was around helping with the project. Now, not that I don’t appreciate Godly women helping out. DO NOT GET ME WRONG! But, I am more excited this day about the men at RPC and their families who are so proud of them and their love for seeing Christ’s church moving forward to make fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ. Reaching the lost. Loving their wife and kids. Just flat going for it. That excites me and completely blows me up! This weekend is going to be a stinking blast in Halstead. Worshiping outdoors at the community worship lead by RPC at the Riverside Park, tossing out 800 frisbees Saturday morning with our logo on them inviting people at the parade to join us in worship Sunday morning.

Yep, life living for Christ has never been better. Reach the lost. Show them you care. More importantly, they matter to God!
